Minecraft 26.44 APK: The 10 Bugs It Fixes

Minecraft 26.44 is the hotfix for 26.40: no new content, just ten specific bugs from the previous update closed. It landed on August 14, 2026 on Android, Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, ChromeOS, iOS, iPadOS and Fire OS, and on August 18 on Nintendo Switch. The internal Android build is 1.26.44.3.

This release matters to Android players more than the average hotfix, because two of its fixes covered things that were breaking sessions on phones.

The two fixes that matter on Android

  • The game closed completely when you pressed the phone’s back button. It showed up with 26.40: instead of returning to the previous screen, the app shut down. It is the most disruptive bug of the batch and the main reason to update.
  • «Block» error when joining old worlds. Opening an older world failed with that code every time, even in singleplayer. If a world stopped opening after 26.40, this release brings it back.

The rest of the ten fixes

  • Items could not be quick-moved into furnace, blast furnace or smoker slots while using Pocket UI.
  • With the profanity filter turned off, the § symbol and line breaks stopped being recognised.
  • Quick-moving items in the hotbar in Creative mode deleted them outright.
  • Arrows shot downwards got stuck in the player’s own hitbox.
  • Vibrant Visuals could not be enabled in worlds that had Education features switched on.
  • The Builder Cape name was wrong in Spanish (Spain).
  • Non-operator players were getting self-selection expansion when using commands.
  • A command that had stopped working since 26.40 responds again.

How to update on Android

  1. Open Google Play on your phone or tablet.
  2. Search for Minecraft and open Mojang Studios’ official listing.
  3. Tap Update.
  4. Check your build under Settings → Profile.

Is 26.44 still the latest? No. The 26.50 «Wilderness Bound» drop came afterwards, with the dappled forest biome, straw beds and cushions, and several hotfixes on top of it. Current state is in the version history.
